Concert on the Margaret Island Open-Air Theatre, featuring the National Philharmonic, Erika Miklósa and Levente Molnár!
Carmina Burana is the most frequently played and listened to classical composition, almost everyone knows it, and not just from the entry music of boxer István KOKO Kovács.
After the premiere of Carmina Burana, then 41 years old Carl Orff finally felt that he was finally able to express the staggering highs and lows which that have occupied his fantasy world since his childhood days. Following this success, Orff made a symbolic gesture of throwing out his previous works through the window and had them removed from his list of works.. It seems Orff loved to employ the philosophy of "tabula rasa" or "new beginnings" as he got married four times. His third wife, writer Louise Rinser claimed in a biographical film that Orff could occasionally be scary with "Demonic forces living inside him". He’d occassionally wake up in the middle of the night screaming because he had dreamt with creatures from the Underworld as well as witches. "If he had been less of a genius, he would surely have gonebad. Though it’s undeniable that his music had some sort of madness, it was charming nonetheless."
Next summer on the Opening Concert of the Budapest Summer Festival on 15 June 2018, the Margitsziget Stage will wittness the peremiere with conductor Zsolt Hamar, the National Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Chorus as well as star opera singersErika Miklósa and Levente Molnár.
