The living legend gives again an unforgettable concert in Budapest.
Jacques Loussier Gramophone Award recipient represents a style in his generation that cannot be specified into any single musical genre. His work is characterized with variety and surprising musical ideas. Loussier always appears where we expect him the least. He has become world famous with the jazz adaptations of Johann Sebastian Bach compositions, plus he has created hundreds of soundtracks and TV film music,
At the age of forty five he has decided to retreat, so he can devote his time to music research. This has been a mystical era of his career, during which he has composed a mess, and along the master of Leipzig, he has refined his own experience and view. In uniquely combining the harmonies of jazz and classical music he has been greatly influenced by Vivaldi, Ravel, Satie, Debussy and Schumann.
Referring to his unmistakable virtuosic performing style and brave musical experimentations, Bernard Gavoty, the famous French Music researcher stated that “Loussier, without any doubt, with his unique style, is the best pianist in the world.” In the summary of his half-century career, he has made an album with the title of The 50th Anniversary Recording, which is an overview of the main steps in the Loussier Trio history, while it also bode well a kind of foresight, especially with the composition called “Chromatic Fantasia”.
According to the pianist-composer, this album is simply one step in the still long route ahead of him. “Perhaps I have never played the piano this well” – declared Loussier contentedly on his last album. – “I think, after this we can expect the one hundredth anniversary with confidence!”
