Eszter Horgas – Mariann Falusi:
Rhapsody in Blue
Bernstein and Gershwin in America
23 July 2017 (Sunday) 8 pm
Városmajor Open-Air Stage
„Life without music is unthinkable” - Leonard Bernstein famously said, and so does flutist Eszter Horgas.
Pulling down the boundaries of flute music from time to time, Eszter Horgas keeps astonishing the audience with fresh and exciting performances year after year. As for this very year, singer Mariann Falusi, opera singer Ildikó Szakács and pianist Daniel Löwenberg right from Salzburg will be joining Horgas’s regular collaborator Class Jazz Band for an unforgettable evening of Rhapsody in Blue, dedicated to the music of Bernstein and Gershwin.
Having arrived to the New World and conquering Hollywood shortly after, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin fused jazz with the so-called classical music. It is thanks to their experimental art that music originating from Black, Native American, Jewish and other cultural traditions have collided - to become widely popular and artistically invaluable. Combining visual and musical elements, the evening is an homage to these two masters of 20th century music.
