The Budapest Summer Festival kindly invites you also in the year 2011 to the programs of Margaret Island Open Stage (Margitszigeti Szabadtéri Színpad). In this season a Jazz Concert series is further included which is organised for the centenary of the historic Water Tower stands in the area of the Stage. The Margaret Island Open Stage can be found in a gorgeous natural and architectural environment on the Margaret Island in the heart of Budapest. The Budapest Summer Festival offers various programs and special recreations for the citizens and also for visitors from abroad at all the weekends from June to August.
You can get to the place of the events by public transport from the Árpád and Margit bridges which embrace the Margaret Island. If you want something special, you can even get there by regular pleasure boat or boat-to-theatre from jetties of Buda or Pest, that’s the shortest and most comfortable way. In about a few steps from the boat stop there are the places of our programmes, such as the ruins of St. Margaret’s convent, the Chapel of Premont, the Water Tower and the Open Stage. The constellation of this scenery is made most magnificent by the greatest plane tree of the country. The guests of the Danubius Health Spa Resort Margitsziget can take a little walk on the alley of Hungarian writers and poets towards the Grand Stage of Margaret Island.

Traditionally on 18th of June will taken place The Dancer Island happening on the Margaret Island from 10am to 24pm. It is a festival of EU Dance House for all day. The meeting place will be at the entrance of Margaret Island from the Margaret Bridge for almost 400 dancers from 25 countries. The big dancer walking starts at 11am, arriving at 12am at the Open Stage where the Dance With Us program begins as a performance of the national dance houses. Finally starts The Gala, during the programs a fair will taken place where you can get food-drink and at the stands.

Renaissance programs, interactive fairy story mornings and Biblical fable are the titles of the free entertainments which acted out by the cantor of the Virgin Mary Church for the kids and also the adults.

Next to the Open Stage stands the hundred years old floodlighted Water Tower which serves as a lookout tower as well. At its foot there are exhibitions taken place from June, and the charming Margit Terrace Restaurant waits you with a tasty lunch and refreshing drinks that help you doing nothing else but enjoy the magical spirit of Margaret Island and the programs of Budapest Summer Festival.
